PISTON SEALS
Purpose:
Piston seals are used where there are high demands of maintaining the high level of sealing performance in sealing during the service life.
 
Types of Piston Seals:
Single acting Piston Seals.
Double Acting Piston Seals.
The selection of Piston Seals is to a greater extent based on the type of cylinder in operation. For a single acting cylinder, it is always better to choose the seal design which provides optimum sealing surface wherein thinnest possible lubricant that can pass through between the gaps of seals & cylinder tube surface.

For a double acting cylinder, it is always better to choose double acting piston seal instead of using two single acting cylinder piston seal as considering high pressure built up in the cylinder, there is always a possibility of breakdown of either of single acting seal.

At Sam Engineers, both single & double acting piston seals are designed with separate & integrated Back up ring & Guide Ring. However the ultimate selection of piston seals has to be on the operating conditions of cylinder.

H-Polyurethane [ -30ºC TO 110ºC ]

Kalrez [ -40ºC TO 260ºC ]
Alfas [ -15ºC TO 206ºC ]
Teflon Virgin [ -200ºC TO 206ºC ]

UKP seals are designed to act as a positive sealing, low friction replacement for conventional rubber seals. Molded from Polyurethane, UKP U-Seals provide long life and high resistance against extrusion. Low friction allows these seals to run smoothly in lubricated or non lubricated cylinder.
