WIPER SEALS
 
Wiper Seals are known as Dirt Wipers, Scrappers or excluders.
 
Purpose:
Primary function is to keep contaminants such as dirt , dust & moisture from entering the fluid power systems.
 
Design Criteria:
Premature failure of seals or any component in fluid power system is due to contamination. Poor selection of wiper seal can result into failure of Rod seals.

Design criteria for the wiper seal should not be limited to allow the proper fitment of rod seal (dynamic sealing) but also sealing of housing (static function) has to be taken care of.

Attached in catalogue are the various profiles of the wiper seal designed to suit the basic requirement of containing the contaminant. Design & selection criteria of the wiper seal is largely depend upon the surface speed of rod, fluid media, rod surface finish & speed.

Single lip design or straight wiper lip design offers best scrapping & dirt removal performance. It is recommended for most sealing applications with high contamination.

Single lip beveled wiper lip is less aggressive as it allows microscopically thin oil film to be retracted back into the system while providing adequate dirt exclusion in less contaminated environments.

Wiper seal with double lip i.e internal as well as external lip provides best sealing performance. It eliminates built up fluid pressure between wiper & rod seal.

For applications where equipment is exposed to highly contaminated with dirt, mud, moisture or where the position of the rod seals are such that it is possible for moisture or other contaminants to get past the wiper, leading to the corrosion or damage of components & seals. For these applications, we are offering special environment seals.
 
DUST & PARTICLE EXCLUSION WIPERS:
Recommended for applications operating in a fairly clean environment with some exposure to dust and particles.
